11/10/2023 0 Comments Kerbal space program 2 cancelled![]() ![]() I would not be surprised if Take Two's offer to acquire Star Theory was fair and reasonable and Bob and/or Jon were too greedy to sell knowing they would certainly be unneeded overhead after the deal. ![]() He left to join Private Divisions new studio because he obviously loved the project more than he loved Bob or Jon. Nate was the creative director at Star Theory and still is at Intercept Games. I don't think this push to early 2023 is indicative of something being wrong or a clashing of creative direction. No doubt that was the cause for the original delay to a 2022 window. Where they wen't wrong was their leadership making poor decisions including launching PA Titans as a full priced stand-alone expansion when it was largely the original scope of content pitched to early access PA players. I loved Total Annihilation and really enjoyed SuperMNC. I was previously a fan of Uber and their games. I wouldn't fault the development talent at Uber Entertainment or suggest they don't have the skill or talent to make a great game. I feel that the take 2 event has a large part in this and COVID they seem to be working with the ksp one time with all good intentions but Nate did seem stressed or disappointed to bare the news about the delay however we have to wait until October time to maybe see some gameplay possibly here's hoping Originally posted by Obiwan:What's going wrong is that they have had 2 bad picks for development and I would wager there has been alot of conflict when it comes to creative direction as a result.īut how the hell Uber ever got signed off to begin with is beyond me. a 5th wont be quite so easy to shrug off.īut for now - provided it is in good faith - this delay makes sense and arguably could simply be a byproduct of the rather turbulent beginnings they had - it could simply be a sign that its now on path and they are just making sure things are done right.īut how the hell Uber ever got signed off to begin with is beyond me. The fact is given the claim they now have the perfect team and are sighting the ambition of the game means that if they have forecast the delay badly this time. You don't need to rename if the name is well recieved and has pedigree. even Titans is now "Planetary Annihilation Inc." there is a reason why that particular collective keeps changing name. but when I heard that Star Theory were basically a rebranded "Uber Entertainment" I have to say that all hope and enthusiasm died. The good news is that more KSP members are now part of it. Take-Two reported its latest financial earnings in a call recently, with the publisher maintaining is dominant status within games publishing with an overall worth exceeding $15 billion. What's going wrong is that they have had 2 bad picks for development and I would wager there has been alot of conflict when it comes to creative direction as a result. Without that chance, the studio closed its doors a few days later. The same pandemic also resulted in the cancellation of GDC earlier this year, where Star Theory was planning to pitch new ideas to publishers in the wake of the exodus. The game has now been delayed until late 2021, with the studio citing the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason. In the weeks that followed, more than half of Star Theory was hired by Intercept Games to continue working on Kerbal Space Program 2. Take-Two had cancelled its contract with Star Theory, its staff would learn later that day. What made the offer puzzling to its recipients was the mention of the studio's current project, Kerbal Space Program 2-the very game they were thought to still be working on at Star Theory. The day after, most of Star Theory's staff were contacted by Take-Two's publishing label, Private Division, with job offers at a new studio called Intercept Games. ![]() Now Playing: Kerbal Space Program 2 Gameplay | Gamescom 2019ĭevelopment was reportedly going well until negotiations between Star Theory's founders and Take-Two over a potential studio purchase fell through.
